Following the keynote address delivered by Iqbal Quadir, professor at MIT and successful entrepreneur, ten student-run start-up companies pitched their businesses to a panel of six notable judges. The ten teams were divided into two group. Five teams were competing for best New Business Concept and five were competing for best Social Venture.


Raw Athletics is dedicated to bringing natural and environmentally-friendly products to the sports industry. Raw Athletics’ first and currently only product, Vapor Fresh, is a sports equipment cleaning and deodorizing spray based on all-natural active ingredients. Vapor Fresh is being used by numerous professional and collegiate football, ice hockey, soccer and lacrosse programs. Raw Athletics pitched the idea of a laundry detergent specifically for sports jerseys, athletic undergarments and workout apparel to the panel of judges. Raw Athletics would sell this sports laundry detergent to the same equipment managers currently using Vapor Fresh.

Although Raw Athletics did not win the grand prize, Steinberg still plans to bring the sports laundry detergent to market. He also plans to attend a few more university business competitions in Spring 2010.
